Colgin Cellars

Founded in 1992, Colgin Cellars produces handcrafted wines from exceptional hillside vineyards in the heart of the Napa Valley.

While working for an esteemed auction house, Ann Colgin began her quest to locate a remarkable site for a hillside vineyard. She discovered an intensely rocky site and produced our first wine. This wine garnered immediate acclaim, and served as the foundation of the estate.

Over two decades later Colgin now produces three Cabernet Sauvignon based wines and one Syrah from extraordinary sites. Esteemed wine writer Robert Parker has named Colgin as “one of the fifty greatest wine estates in the world.”

Colgin produces the following wines from select hillside vineyards:

IX ESTATE
The “IX Estate” Cabernet Sauvignon based red wine is vinified from 16 of the 20 acres of extremely rocky volcanic soil at “IX Estate”. This intensely steep eastern facing slope is planted from 1100 to 1400 feet in elevation. The “IX Estate” is a wine of great power and character with towering aromatics of red fruit, savory herbs, and spice.

CARIAD
“Cariad” originates from 8 acres of an uplifted river bed overlooking the heart of Napa Valley. Its opulence and structure are characterized by exotic notes of violets, dark fruit, and earth. The cepage is Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.

TYCHSON HILL
“Tychson Hill” is a unique 3 acre jewel-box vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon in St. Helena originally planted in the 19th century. It consistently yields a wine of remarkable style, intensity, and elegance.

IX ESTATE SYRAH
The 4 acres of Syrah planted at “IX Estate” are clonal selections originating from the Rhone. They produce a wine of uncommon merit with nuances of blackberry, acacia, coffee, and smoked meat.
